Dev Deepawali is celebrated on Kartik Purnima (full moon night in November). The entire city of Varanasi is illuminated with millions of diyas (oil lamps) on all the ghats. Cultural programs, boat processions, and grand aarti ceremonies make this a spectacular festival. It is believed that on this day, the gods descend to earth to bathe in the Ganga.
